Gas Leak Explosion At Pertamina EP Subang, 2 People Injured
The West Java Regional Police said two people suffered burns due to a gas pipeline leak at PT Pertamina EP Regional 2 Zone 7 Field Subang caused an explosion on Tuesday at around 04.20 WIB.
"It's true, there has been an explosion due to gas leakage at a facility owned by Pertamina EP Subang. There are eight people who are working, two of whom have suffered burns," said Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Pol. Hendra Rochmawan was quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 5.
According to him, the incident began when two employees heard the sound of gas resistance and tried to check the gas pipeline which was suspected to be the source of the leak.
During the inspection process, the gas suddenly exploded until it was heard in a residential area in Babakan Village, Cidahu Village.
Two victims on behalf of Asep Andan suffered 80 percent burns, and Andi Irawan had 9 percent burns. Currently both of them are being treated at Hamori Subang Hospital," said Hendra.
The police, he continued, had taken a number of steps to handle at the scene.
"The Subang Police have secured the scene of the case, recorded witnesses and victims, and coordinated with Pertamina EP regarding further handling," he said.

Hendra said that Pertamina EP Regional 2 Zone 7 Field Subang will immediately deal with the gas leak.
He added that his party would continue to monitor developments and provide further information regarding the exact cause of the incident after the investigation was completed.
