For The Sabang Merauke Performance, Piyu Agrees That Mahadewi Will Be Reshuffled

PADI Reborn is the only band involved in the Sabang Merauke (PSM) - The Indonesian Broadway "Hikayat Nusantara" which will be held at the Indonesia Arena, Central Jakarta on August 23 and 24.

Later, Piyu et al will bring one of their hits entitled 'Mahadewi'. Different from the original version, Piyu as one of the songwriters said, the song 'Lain Dunia' (1999) will be displayed in a story continuity.

"This is related to the director, Mas Memed, he did make regional stories packaged in a modern music show from the start," said Piyu, met on the sidelines of a joint exercise at Kempinski Grand Ballroom, Central Jakarta, Monday, August 4.

'Mahadewi' is actually a story that I took the inspiration from the story of Jaka Tarub and Nawang Wulan. So, 'Mahadewi' is a goddess who comes down to earth, then after that she is dating and eventually becomes one with Jaka Tarub,' continued Piyu.

Due to the background of the song, director Rusmedie Agus alias Memed decided to include 'Mahadewi' among dozens of regional songs featured at this year's Sabang Merauke Performance.

Piyu continued, the 'Mahadewi' that was displayed this time became very different. There is work for Elvin Hendrijanto as the music director and Avip Priatna as the conductor in this version.

"The change is very far away. Because the one who arranged it was Mas Elvin, then the conductor was Mas Avip Priatna. Everything changed completely," he said.

Even though the song has undergone major changes, Piyu doesn't mind. He felt that the song 'Mahadewi' had to blend with other songs as a whole series.

"If for example the song is played in a band, just stick it to the concept of the show, it will definitely be crowded," he added. So, this is really combined and blended. So, it will definitely be different.

In addition, Fadly as the vocalist of Padi Reborn admitted that he was amazed by what PSM had shown. He said this event succeeded in uniting traditional and Western classical musical elements with Padi Reborn's musical style.

Here we combine three elements of music, traditional, classical, and modern. This is history in our musical career, "said Fadly.
