Bill On Confiscation Of Assets Entering Prolegnas 2025'2029, DPR Ready To Take Over Initiatement

JAKARTA - Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas said the House of Representatives (DPR) would take over the initiation of the Asset Confiscation Bill (RUU).

He said that when it became the government's initiation, the bill had not yet been discussed.

"But if the DPR takes over, then it's good, it means that the DPR has wanted to resolve it," Supratman said in a special interview with ANTARA, quoted on Tuesday, August 5.

For this reason, he emphasized that all parties could wait for the results of the evaluation of the national legislation program (prolegnas). The Asset Confiscation Bill has been included in the National Legislation Program for 2025-2029.

If after being evaluated by the DPR wants to initiate the Asset Confiscation Bill and wants to include it in the 2026 Priority Prolegnas, then the Minister of Law and Human Rights will not have a problem with it.

It is said that the 2026 Priority Prolegnas will be ratified before the Draft Law (RUU) of the 2026 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) is passed.

"If the DPR takes the initiative, it means that either the government draft will be given or they will draft again. But that doesn't matter to me," he said.

The government, said Supratman, has completed the concept of the Asset Confiscation Bill, so it is just waiting for the next step from the DPR because there is still consolidation in parliament.

So far, he explained that President Prabowo Subianto has also met with the general chairmen of political parties to discuss the Asset Confiscation Bill.

Previously, Member of Commission III of the DPR RI Nasir Djamil said that the Draft Law (RUU) on Asset Confiscation would not be difficult to serve as an annual priority bill.

He explained that the DPR RI has a mechanism if a bill that was not previously included in the annual priority, then it could be a priority if it was approved by the factions and decided at the Plenary Meeting.

Currently, according to him, the Asset Confiscation Bill has not been included in the 2025 priority because it is included in the medium-term Bill

"It was included in the five-year legislation program, but that doesn't mean the term is ignored," Nasir said in an online discussion monitored from Jakarta, Thursday (12/6).
