Minister Of Immipas Will Place The TNI-Polri To Guard Prisons To Prevent Drug Trafficking

JAKARTA - Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) Agus Andrianto plans to place TNI and Polri personnel in prisons and detention centers (rutan) to prevent drug trafficking.

"If there is a need for prisons or remand centers, especially those with high potential for drug trafficking, we will place TNI or Polri personnel in carrying out security," Agus said in Jakarta, Monday, August 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, the presence of TNI/Polri personnel is needed to protect the community who visit prisoners and inmates. That way, efforts to prevent drug trafficking in prisons and detention centers can get better.

He said the plan was a development of a memorandum of understanding and cooperation agreement (PKS) signed by the Ministry of Imipas and the National Police today. According to him, there is still a lot of synergy space that can be explored by both parties.

"Hopefully that the cooperation between the Ministry of Imipas and the Police will not only stop at what has been stated in the memorandum of understanding, but will continue to develop and give birth to various forms of collaboration with other strategies," he said.

On that occasion, Agus also said that the National Police and the Ministry of Imipas had main tasks and functions that were related and inseparable, including in supporting various national priority programs.

"Such as eradicating drugs, supporting food security, eradicating criminal acts of trafficking in persons and crimes of human smuggling," he said.

Synergy between agencies, added Agus, is an integral part of efforts to make Indonesia Gold's vision a success in 2045 in order to realize a developed, sovereign, just, and prosperous country.

"In order to create institutional synergies, to increase the effectiveness of the implementation of related tasks and functions between the Ministry of Imipas and the National Police, a memorandum of understanding is needed as a basis for sustainable operational law," he said.

On the same occasion, PKS was also signed between the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Immigration and the National Police regarding Basic Intelligence Education and Training / Investigation for Immigration Officials / Employees.

Meanwhile, the PKS agreed between the Directorate General of Corrections and the National Police, namely the Synergy of Support for the Implementation of Tasks and Functions in the Data and/or Information Sector of Prisoners, Children, and Inmates and Management of Non-Inorganic Firearms of the National Police/TNI as well as Security Equipment that Classify Weapons.
