ODGJ Who Killed His Mother In Bengkulu Has Been Treated Since 2023, Returned Because Of Good And Calm

BENGKULU - Soeprapto Bengkulu Mental Special Hospital confirmed that NR (18), a suspect in the murder of his biological mother YT (49) during the Dzuhur prayer on Saturday, August 2, was a patient who had been undergoing psychiatric treatment since 2023.

RSKJ Soeprapto psychiatrist, dr. Nurma Yusma Dewi, said that NR was listed as an active patient who had been hospitalized several times and had been in and out of the hospital since last year.

"It's true, NR is our patient and has undergone several treatments. He was discharged on July 29, 2025 in good condition, calm, and able to undergo daily activities independently," said Nurma in Bengkulu, quoted from Antara, Monday, August 4.

Nurma added that her party had also provided NR with drugs for outpatient treatment for two weeks and scheduled further controls.

NR is known to benefit from the BPJS Health program, so all medical expenses at RSKJ Soeprapto are borne by the government.

Previously reported, the Bengkulu City Police (Polresta) named NR as a suspect in the murder of his biological mother. At the time of the incident, the victim was carrying out a dzuhur prayer.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bengkulu Police, Kompol Sujud Alif Yulam Lam, said that the determination of the suspect was carried out after investigators pocketed two pieces of evidence.

"But because the person concerned is suspected of having a mental disorder and has pocketed a yellow card, we are still coordinating with a psychiatrist," said Sujud.

Based on the initial examination, NR admitted that he had received a whisper to kill his mother before carrying out the action.

Currently, NR is undergoing psychological observations for 14 days at RSKJ Soeprapto to ensure his psychological condition.
