Trump Responds To Comments By Former Russian President
JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump said he had ordered two nuclear submarines to be positioned in the appropriate territory in response to the former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's "very provocative" comments.
Trump said he was acting just in case this stupid and inflammatory statement was more than that. Words are very important, and can often lead to unwanted consequences, I hope this won't be one of those examples.
He did not say where the two submarines were deployed, in accordance with US military protocols. Russia and the US have the most nuclear weapons in the world, and both countries have nuclear submarine fleets.

In Friday's post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: "Based on a very provocative statement from the former Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev, who is now deputy chairman of the Russian Federation Security Council, I have ordered two nuclear submarines to be positioned in the appropriate territory."
The US president did not say whether he was referring to a nuclear-powered or nuclear-armed submarine in his position at Truth Social. Speaking to reporters on the same day, Trump said: "The threat was made, and we don't think it's right. So I have to be very careful.
"I did that on the basis of safety for our people. Threats were made by the former president of Russia. And we will protect our people."
The Kremlin has so far made no public comments on the matter, but Moscow's stock market fell sharply following Trump's statement. Trump and Medvedev recently engaged in a series of personal attacks against each other on social media.
It came after Trump set a new deadline for current Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war on August 8 which Putin did not show as a sign of doing so.
