Megawati Quotes 'Satya Eva Jayate' Philosophy, Reminds Indonesians To Be Loyal And Steadfast

BALI - The Chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Megawati Soekarnoputri, quoted the philosophy of Satya Eva Jayate, or "truth will always triumph," after meeting again with Hasto Kristiyanto.

The meeting between the two took place at the closing of the 6th PDI-P Congress in Nusa Dua, Bali.

"It turns out that what I said was Satya Eva Jayate, the truth will always triumph, thank God," Megawati said on Saturday, August 2.

According to her, God has granted Hasto Kristiyanto's wish. She also stated that she has been praying for the reunion of the PDI-P Secretary General. Hasto was previously detained in connection with the bribery case involving the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Interim Management (PAW).

"God granted him what he desired. Now, I was praying, but I didn't have high hopes that Mr. Hasto would be back among us," she said.

Megawati also emphasized to her cadres that they must remain steadfast and loyal. This has been exemplified by Hasto Kristiyanto.

"So remember what I just said: you must be steadfast, you must be loyal. Because that is the true gift from God to mankind," said Megawati.

The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) has approved amnesty for PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto, who was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison in connection with the bribery case involving the replacement of a PDIP faction member. This decision was the result of a consultation meeting between the government and the DPR tonight, following a request for consideration and approval from the President.

"The approval and consideration are based on Presidential Letter Number R42 Pres 07 2025 dated July 30, 2025, concerning amnesty for 1,116 convicted individuals, including Hasto Kristiyanto," said Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
