Menkum: Don't Doubt Prabowo About Corruption Eradication
JAKARTA - Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas stated that President Prabowo Subianto would not be afraid in eradicating corruption in Indonesia.
This affirmation was conveyed in response to the assumption that the weakening of the eradication of corruption in the Prabowo government was related to granting amnesty and abolition to Hasto Kristiyanto and Tom Lembong.
"There is no need to hesitate and all of us, the ranks will continue to ensure that the movement to eradicate corruption will not be affected by the granting of amnesty and abolition today," Supratman told reporters, Friday, August 1.
The Minister of Law and Human Rights emphasized that all law enforcement officers under the Prabowo government will continue to eradicate corruption. In fact, it will not be indiscriminate in the process of taking action.
"The eradication will still be carried out by all law enforcement officers," he said.
The granting of forgiveness to Hasto Kristiyanto and Tom Lembong is not said to interfere in the legal process. Only use the prerogative of the person for the benefit of the nation.
"So for now, the form of president wants national reconciliation," said Supratman.

Previously, the Indonesia Calling (IM) 57+ Institute highlighted Prabowo's move to grant forgiveness to Hasto Kristiyanto and Tom Lembong. This is because this decision can set a bad precedent for law enforcement and eradicating corruption.
"In the future, politicians will not be afraid to commit corruption because settlements can be made through a political agreement," said Chairman of the IM 57+ Institute, Lakso Anindito.
Lakso assesses that there are efforts to circumvent the applicable and visible law. "This can set a bad precedent for the law enforcement process in this country and is a betrayal of the promise of eradicating corruption for the law enforcement process in this country," he said.
"And is a betrayal of the promise of eradicating corruption disclosed by the president himself," he continued.
