Liverpool's Target, Alexander Isak, Practices At Real Sociedad

JAKARTA - Alexander Isak is recovering from injury at Real Sociedad training ground. A La Real spokesman confirmed to ESPN on Thursday, July 31, 2025, local time.

He said that Isak had tried to recover at their training ground, Zubieta, outside San Sebastian this week.

Isak came there not without reason. The striker has played for La Real for three years, becoming one of Europe's most popular young strikers, before joining Newcastle United in 2022.

Isak missed Newcastle United's pre-season tour amid growing speculation of his move to Liverpool.

Newcastle called a minor thigh injury the reason behind Isak's absence from the tour of Asia.

He missed the match on Sunday, July 27, 2025, against Arsenal in Singapore and the match against K-League XI.

He also did not appear against Tottenham Hotspur in South Korea on Thursday, July 27, 2025.

However, there are rumors that the attacker's absence was related to the possibility of leaving The Magpies.

ESPN has reported that the Swedish National Team player is open to leaving Newcastle this summer.

Liverpool are now leading the competition to sign him if available. The problem is, Newcastle insists that they are not open to transfers.

Newcastle are reluctant to release Isak - who has scored 44 Premier League goals in three seasons at Tynese and still has a three-year contract remaining - to leave.

Coach Eddie Howe confirmed earlier this month that the player was happy at St. James' Park while admitting that he never knew what could happen.

"Sak is still our player. He is still under contract with us. We, to some extent, control what will happen next for him."

"I'd love to believe that all possibilities are still available to us. My hope is that he will survive, but that's not completely in my control."

"We haven't received an official offer for Alex, from any club," Howe said this week.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have beaten Newcastle in the recruitment of Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer with an initial deal worth 69 million pounds.

The Premier League champions have added Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez to the squad, but also allowed Luis Diaz to join Bayern Munich this week.
