Fact Check! Police Officers Sell AK-47 Assault Weapons Complete With Ammunition To KKB Papua Terrorists
JAKARTA - News with the hoax category does not stop being shared by social media users. One of them was about the coverage of members of the police who sold weapons to the Papua Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
This information was shared by the Facebook account @Devan Baskara. Users even twist the news headline from one of the national media in Indonesia.
"A POLICE MEMBER SELLS ASAP-47 WEAPONS AND FN MADE IN CHINA PISTOL AS WELL AS AMMUNITION TO THE PAPUA KKB Terrorists" and "A Police Member from the Densus 88 unit", read the narrative of the user juxtaposed with the CNN logo.
Reporting from the turnbackhoaks.id website, Friday, May 7, this news includes fake content. "In fact, the image is edited. CNN Indonesia has never made an article like the screenshot", wrote turnbackhoaks.id.
Still from the user's narrative, this police officer has sold 20 AK-47s and 5,000 bullets for 7 times. And also the FN-type pistol made in China and its ammunition to the Papua KKB gang.
"Based on the search results on the CNN Indonesia website using the keyword 'police selling weapons to KKB Papua', not a single article was found that matched the claim on April 12, 2021", explained turnbackhoaks.id.
"In addition, this claim is also a recycled twist style. On the turnbackhoaks.id site, claims like this have been repeatedly checked before", he said.
