Police Disband Football Match In Sorong With Hundreds Of Audiences
SORONG - Sorong City Police personnel dismissed a football match at the hoky village field. This match was watched by hundreds of spectators regardless of health protocol.
It was seen that the Mayor of Sorong, Lambert Jitmau, together with the Head of Sorong City Police, AKBP Ary Nyoto Setiawan and a number of Muspida, went directly to the field to coordinate with the organizing committee. They broke up the match because they formed a large crowd.
Sorong City Police Chief AKBP Ary Nyoto Setiawan said the match was dismissed because of the large crowd and ignoring health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
He said, according to a circular from the Sorong city government and also the central government that during the COVID-19 pandemic, people were prohibited from carrying out activities that gathered large numbers of people.
Therefore, he said, the soccer tournament was not allowed so that the police came to the field to urge the match to be stopped and the public to disperse and not crowd in large numbers.
According to him, the action taken was an effort to prevent and spread COVID-19. As well as breaking the chain of spread of the corona virus for the sake of human safety.
"The organizing committee realized and disbanded when police personnel came to the playing field to appeal to stop activities for the safety of many people," he added.
