PSIM Problem Towards Super League, Look For Stadium And Mess Players

YOGYAKARTA - PSIM Yogyakarta faces a difficult problem before competing in the 2025/2026 Super League. This promotional club is still looking for a stadium to host its opponents. Not to mention the mess players whose rents have tripled.

When competing in Liga 2, PSIM still wore the Mandala Krida Stadium, Yogyakarta, in the home match. Only the stadium was not equipped with lights so the match was held in the afternoon.

When rising caste after becoming the 2nd League champion, PSIM must use a stadium equipped with lights. This is an absolute requirement because Super League matches are also held at night.

Because he could not use Mandala Krida, PSIM hopes to choose one of the stadiums in DIY. Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul, which is the headquarters of Persiba Bantul and Maguwoharjo Stadium, Sleman, which is the home base of PSS Sleman, could be PSIM's choice.

Last season, PSS was still competing in Liga 1. However, Laskar Elang Java was finally relegated and returned to Liga 2 this season.

Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X has advised PSIM to continue playing in Yogyakarta, whether in Bantul or Sleman. The message was what Laskar Mataram wanted to carry out when he navigated the Super League.

"Ngarsa Dalem has advised PSIM not to leave DIY. Of course we want to fulfill the message and PSIM will not leave DIY," said Liana Tasno, President Director of PSIM to the media in Yogyakarta, Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

Apart from Bantul and Sleman, PSIM was able to return to Solo to share with Persis using the Manahan Stadium. However, Liana ensured that PSIM remained in DIY. PSIM also hopes to immediately settle down whether to use the Sultan Agung Stadium or Maguwoharjo before the competition starts.

On the other hand, PSIM also faces the problem of mess players. So far, the team has used a mes at a guesthouse next to Mandala Krida. Wisma is indeed synonymous with PSIM even though it is under the management of the Yogyakarta City Government.

It's just that when PSIM goes up caste, the rental price of the mes also goes up. Even the increase in mes rentals is up to three times. There is no certainty whether PSIM will move mes or choose to stay in the guesthouse which has become part of PSIM even though the rental price has increased.

However, the obstacles and problems faced by PSIM did not dampen their steps to fight in the Super League. Liana ensured that the team would return to work extra hard in order to survive in the midst of the tight league competition.

"After successfully promoting, we do not feel satisfied. We have to work even harder in League 1. We want to be better than before," said Liana.

Meanwhile, General Manager (GM) of the club Steven Sunny stated that PSIM will turn into an increasingly professional club in the Super League. Not only in terms of finance but also players and coaches.

"The club will be more professional. And we have to have a clear vision from this club," said Steven.
