KPK Gives Signs To Appeal Verdict 3.5 Years Of Hasto Kristiyanto
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto said the prosecutor still had time to determine further legal steps against the 3.5-year prison sentence of the Secretary General of the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto. Everything was handed over to the Director of Prosecution of the KPK.
"So the prosecutor still has that time until tomorrow, until Friday. I leave it entirely to the Director of Prosecution and then to the prosecutor in general to discuss it," Setyo told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, July 31.
The results of this discussion will then be submitted to the leadership of the anti-corruption commission. "Because the time is until tomorrow," he said.
"After that, the leadership will review it later," continued the former Director of Investigation of the KPK.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Fitroh Rohcahyanto, said that Hasto's 3.5-year sentence would be fought through appeals.
"Banding (will be carried out by the prosecutor, ed)," he said when confirmed separately.
Previously reported, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months or 3.5 years in prison by the Panel of Judges at the Corruption Court. He was found guilty of bribing former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan regarding PAW, a member of the 2019-2024 DPR.
The aggravating thing is that Hasto as a defendant does not support the eradication of corruption and independence of the KPU institution.
Meanwhile, the mitigating factor is that Hasto was polite in the trial, had never been convicted, and had family responsibilities.

Meanwhile, for the obstruction of the investigation into the bribery case of Harun Masiku, the panel of judges stated that the indictment was not proven. This decision is lighter than the prosecutor's demands, namely 7 years in prison and a fine of Rp600 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.
