Sketchers Launches New Children's Shoes With Hidden AirTag Compament

JAKARTA AirTag can be used to track many things, from valuables to animals. Now, parents can use AirTag to track their children with shoes from Sketchers.

Sketchers, an American shoe company, launched a Kids series called Find My Sketchers. Different from other shoe models, the Sketchers Kids series can connect with Apple's Find My application with the help of AirTag.

The company provides a special compartment on the heel of shoes so parents can put AirTag in it. This compartment is also equipped with a waterproof screw cover to keep AirTag safe.

This department also has an air-cooled sole Goga Mat which can be lifted to reduce the user's heels. The purpose of launching these shoes is quite clear, namely to help parents monitor their child's whereabouts at any time and anywhere.

However, Sketchers seem to be careful in marketing these shoes. Instead of mentioning it as a child tracking shoe, Sketchers actually promotes the AirTag compartment as a parents-to-knower tool where your child's 'shoes' are located through the Find My app.

Apparently, Sketchers deliberately did this to avoid allegations of stalking. Although it can be used to track anything, Apple markets AirTag as a tool to track objects, not to track people's whereabouts.

In fact, Apple created an anti-stalk feature on its phone to prevent AirTag abuse. This feature is designed with Google to combat the misuse of Bluetooth-based location tracking devices such as AirTag and Tile.
