Minister Of Agriculture Amran Lapor Prabowo Says Premium Rice Prices Are Starting To Drop

JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman conveyed good news regarding the development of rice prices in the market. According to him, the price of premium rice is currently starting to show a downward trend.

This was revealed by Amran after reporting to President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 30.

"He said good news, the premium price (rice) has dropped. This is according to reports received from all over Indonesia that premium prices have dropped," Amran said as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube channel.

Amran hopes that this downward trend can continue and touch all types of rice. "Hopefully in the future, premium prices, medium, all rice prices will be in a good position," he hoped.

The government seeks to maintain the availability of rice and reduce prices in the market by preparing rice reserves through two schemes, namely the Supply Stabilization and Food Price (SPHP) program of 1.3 million tons, and social assistance reserves (bansos) of 360,000 tons.

"Then, production development is safe, our stock is safe. Our market operations have done a big amount. We have prepared SPHP, that is rice subsidized 1.3 million tons and social assistance 360,000 tons. The total is 1.5 million tons. Our (national) stock is 4.2 million tons, so everything is safe," said Amran.

Previously, Minister of Agriculture Amran reported to the president regarding the development of the rice fields printing program and the condition of national food stocks. During the meeting, he ensured that the strategic rice fields printing program went according to plan.

"First we discussed, he asked the progress of printed rice fields. I told him that everything was going well, starting from South Papua, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, South Sumatra. God willing, hopefully it can be completed on time," he said.

According to Amran, printing rice fields is an important step to strengthen national food security, as well as support the self-sufficiency agenda which is a priority for President Prabowo's government.
