Minister Karding Calls Migrant Human Resource Development Starting From Village

JAKARTA - Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Minister (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding said the Golden Migrant Village program was an effort to develop superior Human Resources (HR) so that they could compete globally.

He conveyed this at the launch of the Golden Migrant Village in Bukit Peninjauan II Village, Kepahiang Regency, Bengkulu.

"This is the beginning of a new era of protecting Indonesian migrant workers, starting from villages," Karding said as quoted on Wednesday, July 30.

This program also aims to ensure that every prospective Indonesian Migrant Worker gets a comprehensive provision before leaving for overseas. That way, they are able to compete professionally. In addition, they are also protected legally and socially if something happens.

"Through education, skills training, mental strengthening, language mastery, and procedural work readiness," he said.

On the other hand, Karding said the implementation of this program was an initiative involving various parties, including universities, local governments, and rural communities. This shows the concern of all levels to build Indonesian human resources for the better.

"To jointly create a strong village in the face of the dynamics of global migration," said Karding.
