SBY Arts Teacher Lukis Monas From 23rd Floor City Hall Building, Here Are The Results
JAKARTA - Painter from Germany, Christopher Lehmpfuhl plays his brush painting the National Monument (Monas) area from the 23rd floor of the Grha Ali Sadikin building, DKI Jakarta City Hall.
The results of the painting were exhibited by DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung through his personal Instagram account.
In the painting, a portrait of the Monas Monument is surrounded by grass and green trees. There are also portraits of the State Palace, Istiqlal Mosque, and tall buildings around it.
"The results of Christopher Lehmpfuhl's work in painting Monas using his hands. Alhamdulillah, the beauty of Monas can be enjoyed and immortalized," Pramono said in his Pramonoanungw Instagram account, quoted Wednesday, July 30.
The image of Monas emblazoned in Christopher's painting, according to Pramono, was thanks to the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). SBY took Christopher who is also his painting teacher to City Hall to paint Monas.
"This work was also born thanks to the 6th President, Mr. SBY and SBY Art Community, which made Jakarta's face more global," Pramono continued.
On Tuesday, July 29, SBY came with Christopher to meet Pramono and asked for permission to use the room on the top floor of the DKI Jakarta City Hall building.
SBY assessed that Christopher is a painter who has special expertise in finger painting, heavy texture, and painting in nature.
The former artistic head of state is also known to have learned to paint with Christopher. Thus, he supported Christopher's intention to paint directly for the Monas portrait and appreciated Pramono for inviting the use of the City Hall building to be his place of painting.
"I studied with Christopher, I went to Berlin and was taught to paint nature with fingers," said SBY at City Hall.
"But he (Christopher) is a good painter, I thank him (Pramono) for giving him the opportunity to paint here," he continued.
