APAR Not Successfully Putting Out The Park Puring Market Fire, Pramono: The Spread Is Very Fast
The Taman Puring Market fire that occurred on Monday, July 28 at 18.00 WIB was successfully extinguished after a 7-hour blackout by officers.
Before firefighters arrived at the location, the Taman Puring Market manager tried to extinguish the fire independently using a light fire extinguisher (APAR).
However, it turned out that APAR did not succeed in tameing the fire, thus requiring large-scale extinguishing operations.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung admitted that APAR as a portable fire extinguisher is only able to extinguish fires on a light scale.
"Indeed, sometimes, like the fire in the market last night, it was in a closed kiosk. As soon as the fire broke out, they were narrowed, of course the spread was very fast. If that's the case, you can't and you can't afford to deal with such a fire," said Pramono at Pluit Reservoir, North Jakarta, Tuesday, July 29.

However, Pramono assessed that the "One RT One APAR" program he ran in Jakarta was still effective in residential areas as an initial handling of the fire.
"There is relatively no position because the community, in this case, also participates. Even more, including those (fires) in Tambora several times, I communicated with the community there, they really supported the governor's regulation regarding One RT One APAR," explained Pramono.
The Park Puring fire began at 18.00 WIB, Monday, July 28. A total of 34 fire engines and at least 115 officers were deployed to extinguish the fire.
The Taman Puring Market fire reportedly started at 18.05 WIB. When the fire emerged from one of the kiosks in Block D and E, security officers initially extinguished independently before finally reporting to the firefighters.
Initially, the fire occurred due to an electric corsletig. after officers localized and cooled, the blackout was completed on Tuesday, July 29 at 01.30 WIB.
