Indonesian Woodball Team Wins 6 Golds At Malaysia Open 2025

JAKARTA - The Indonesianwoodball team recorded a history of brilliant achievements on the international stage by winning the overall title at the Malaysia Open Woodball Championship 2025.

In a tight tournament attended by strong Asian countries, Indonesian woodball managed to show total dominance by bringing home 11 medals, consisting of six gold, one silver and four bronze medals.

This achievement far exceeded the initial target of the three gold medals launched by the General Chairperson of the Woodball Association (PB IWbA) Executive Board, Aang Sunadji.

The success of achieving double the target set is clear evidence of the effectiveness of Indonesia's coaching program and seriousness in preparing for a larger multi-event, especially the 2025 Thailand SEA Games later this year.

"The main key behind this success is the independent national training camp program (pelatnas) which has been held in a disciplined and intensive manner since early July 2025."

"Our focus is not only on technical and physical, but also on strengthening the mentality of champions and adaptive competing strategies," said Director of Pelatnas Tim Woodball Indonesia, Fendi Jonathan.

Fendi continued, the results at the Malaysia Open to validate investment in time, energy, and resources in the independent national training have yielded maximum results and become an effective preparation model.

Moreover, this result also provides preliminary data for the coaching team to map the strength of the opponent, especially from rival countries, such as the host of Malaysia and Thailand at the 2025 SEA Games.

"This is not just a win, this is an affirmation. We see the consistency of athletes' performance from the qualifying round to the final."

"Their quality at crucial points is highly tested. Data from each hit and each match here we will analyze in-depth to develop a more specific training program to patch gaps and hone the advantage before leaving for the 2025 SEA Games."

"The journey is still long, our main target is at the 2025 SEA Games. This result is a reminder that there are still many things that need to be prepared better."

"The problem is, other countries, especially in Southeast Asia, will also certainly evaluate and prepare harder for the best results at the 2025 SEA Games," said Fendi who is also the Secretary General of PB IWbA.

The manager of the Indonesian woodball team, Amelya Simamora, who accompanied the athletes while at the Malaysia Open also highlighted the importance of maintaining the condition of athletes in every match, including mentally.

"My job and the official team is to ensure athletes are in the best condition in every match they play."

"The solidarity between senior and junior athletes that existed during the national training became our strength."

"Now, our focus is on maintaining this rhythm because the real journey has just started," said Amelya.

Furthermore, the Indonesianwoodball team will return to Indonesia before returning to appear at the Singapore Open on August 1-4, 2025, which is part of a series of preparations for the Thailand 2025 SEA Games.

The Indonesianwoodball team is supported by Aice as the official ice cream, Mills as the official market, and Kings Travel as the official traveling partner.
