Jember To Banyuwangi Alami Fuel Scarcity, Pertamina Explains The Cause

PT Pertamina (Persero) has opened its voice regarding the scarcity of fuel oil (BBM) that occurred at a number of gas stations in Jember and Banyuwangi, East Java.

Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR Pertamina Patra Niaga Jatimbalinus, Sunday Rahedi explained, the impact of the closure of the national road on the Gumitir Line connecting Jember Regency and Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, to this day still causes congestion in several affected areas.

The closure, which will last for the next two months until September 24, 2025, has begun to have an impact on community mobility and other sectors, including energy for the distribution of fuel and LPG.

"There are 8 Bondowoso gas stations and 41 gas stations in the Jember area which have an impact related to the closure of the Gumitir Line," he said, Monday, July 28.

As a mitigation, he continued, Pertamina Patra Niaga Jatimbalinus had mapped and implemented alternative distributions since mid-July before the start of lane closures on July 24, 2025.

Sunday said, as an impact on the closure of the Gumitir Line, Pertamina used an alternative route, namely Banyuwangi Situbondo Bondowoso Jember which was previously from Banyuwangi - Gumitir which was directly distributed to Jember.

"Regarding this route mitigation, Pertamina has also coordinated with the Satlantas and local Polres to prioritize fuel and LPG transportation vehicles. The impact of this congestion resulted in Round Time Hours (RTH) which was originally only 4 hours to 11 hours, so Pertamina decided to carry out supply transfers to Pertamina Instlation Surabaya Group and Fuel Terminal Malang to avoid tank cars stuck in traffic jams at Ketapang Port," explained Sunday.

Sunday added that Pertamina Patra Niaga Jatimbalinus had carried out this supply transfer since July 24, 2025, at the beginning of the closure of the Gumitir Line.

"There are 79 aid tankers that we have provided, each coming from the supply of Banyuwangi, Surabaya and Malang while still considering the path that is traversed which can only be crossed by a maximum capacity of 24 KL. As an effort to anticipate further, support efforts to normalize distribution, distribution will also be assisted through Tuban and Madiun," concluded Sunday.
