IKN Shows Progress, DPR Proposes A Number Of Ministries To Move Gradually

JAKARTA - Commission XIII of the DPR RI appreciates the progress of infrastructure development and management of state assets in the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN) area.

This was conveyed by Member of Commission XIII DPR RI, Franky Sibarani, during his visit to IKN, East Kalimantan, Saturday, July 26, 2025.

He also expressed support for accelerating the use of facilities that have been built at IKN as well as encouraging several ministries to start operating gradually there.

"In my opinion, I see that from the several existing facilities it can be operationalized."

"As Commission XIII of the DPR, we provide support for the State Secretariat as much as possible for ministries to be operated, for example the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Forestry, or Ministry of ATR/BPN to be combed first," he said in a statement.

In addition, a review was also carried out on a number of state-owned goods that had been built in the core area of IKN, including the State Palace, Garuda Palace, the Ministry of State Secretariat Office (Kemensetneg), Legislative Plaza, Vice Presidential Palace, to the IKN Central General Hospital.

"Therefore, our goal is to see the progress and in my opinion the progress is extraordinary," said Franky.

IKN Development Enters Phase II

Meanwhile, the construction of the IKN has entered the pre-construction meeting (PCM) as the first step in implementing the second phase and marking the start of a new physical work contract in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) of IKN.

"We will start the second phase of IKN development work. At the end of this month, a much larger auction will be announced for development."

"I imagine it will be very crowded. We have to work as a team, collaborate, and synergize," said Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Furthermore, Basuki emphasized the high standards that must be maintained in development, especially in terms of quality, environmental sustainability, and aesthetics.

He also highlighted the importance of keeping the ripple area (river border), paying attention to the risk of flooding, and being disciplined in managing working time, considering that this project started in the rainy season and only had about six months until December 2025.

The former PUPR Minister also reminded all parties to maintain IKN development governance in a transparent and accountable manner.

"We start phase two with a new spirit and better discipline than the previous phase."

"There should be no mark-up progress, bribery, or other unethical practices. Let's take care of the integrity of IKN development together," said Basuki.
