Not Just A New Car, VinFast Looks Different At GIIAS 2025 With Nusantara Clothing

JAKARTA - VinFast, a vehicle brand from Vietnam, continues to innovate in Indonesia. At the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), VinFast proudly launched his fifth car, VF 7.

VinFast Indonesia CEO, Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, said he was very proud to have made an important milestone in the Indonesian automotive market. With the presence of a new model, it strengthens its position as a producer with a complete line of electric vehicles in Indonesia.

"Through the advantages of diverse product lines, we are committed to meeting the transportation and financial needs of the community, as well as encouraging the acceleration of the transition to green mobility in Indonesia," he said, during the launch at ICE BSD, Tangerang, some time ago.

This latest product comes in two variants of both Plus and Eco and all of them carry the design language of Asymmetric Aerospace, which has the aesthetics of freedom. This car also comes with a tilted roof design with a coup style.

Speaking of travel distance, VinFast VF 7 Plus is pinned with a battery of 70.8 kWh capable of traveling up to 471 km in one full charge, while the Eco variant with a battery capacity of 59.6 kWh can go up to 430 km.

Bring Nusantara Culture To GIIAS Area 2025

This Vietnamese brand also shows a unique approach in building emotional closeness with the Indonesian people through cross-cultural collaboration at GIIAS 2025. Four typical clothes of Usher Vinfast appear to steal attention with a touch of Indonesian culture packaged in a traditional Vietnamese design, the result of the famous designer design Didiet Maulana.

Vinfast Indonesia CEO, Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, revealed that this collaboration was born from a commitment not only to grow in terms of business, but also culturally in Indonesia.

"If you only focus on business, but don't raise Indonesian culture, I think it's incomplete. We start with something simple, when viewed from last year's GIIAS, we raised Vietnamese characteristics on usher clothes. But I thought, why not also raise our culture ?," he said.

This step was realized by cooperating with Didiet Maulana, who is known as a designer who faithfully carries the legacy of Indonesian textiles. Didiet was given the challenge of incorporating the philosophy of Indonesian culture into the design of ao dai, a traditional Vietnamese dress that became the basis for Vinfast's Usher costume.

For several months we researched the traditional Vietnamese dress, ao dai. The shape is beautiful and elegant. But the most unique is the motive that we adjusted to Vinfast's direction, combining culture with the tie technique that we have developed for a dozen years, "explained Didiet.

Didiet Maulana explained that the inspiration he used in making the clothes was the lotus flower. The motif of the lotus flower, the national symbol of Vietnam, which became the main element, was then combined with the Indonesian signature ikat weaving technique.

The clothing from this collaboration was worn by Usher Vinfast during the GIIAS 2025 exhibition. They will accompany Vinfast's superior electric car line exhibited at Hall 2 ICE BSD, namely VF 3, VF 5, VF 6, VF e34, and VF 7. Future technological combination with cultural heritage is a particular attraction at this year's Vinfast booth.
