Rice Prices Rise, Coordinating Minister For Food Asks Bulog Segara To Do Market Operations

JAKARTA - The government asks Perum Bulog to immediately distribute rice for the Supply Stabilization and Food Price (SPHP) program.

The acceleration of distribution needs to be done to control rice prices at the consumer level, which is starting to move up.

Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan said Indonesia is currently entering a gadu harvest, so production is not as much as during the harvest season.

"But now (including the harvest) is gadu, so there is more need, production is smaller, so the price is a bit higher," he said at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Food, Jakarta, Friday, July 25.

This lower production condition, he continued, makes rice prices at the consumer level start to move up at this time.

Karena itu, saat ini merupakan waktu yang tepat untuk Bulog mempercepat operasi pasar.

Zulhas, as he is familiarly called, said that the government had also assigned Perum Bulog to pour 1.3 million tons of SPHP rice by the end of the year.

"Because it has been decided here, Bulog to speed up market operations. There are already 1.3 million (tonnes of rice), pouring into the market," he said.

In addition, Zulhas reminded that the distribution of this rice must be carried out under strict supervision and in the form of a SPHP.

He also warned that there should be no practice of mixing rice.

"But with tight supervision. It must really be that the SPHP can be marketed in the form of a SPHP, not mixed up," he said.

For your information, the government through the National Food Agency (Bapanas) has assigned Perum Bulog to carry out the SPHP program during the period July to December 2025 through the Head of the National Food Agency No. 173/TS.02.02/K/7/2025 dated July 8, 2025.

Distribution is targeted at 1.31 million tons of rice originating from government rice reserves (CBP) to all regions in Indonesia.
