Not Wanting Mbappe Case To Repeat, PSG Immediately Sells Donnarumma Goalkeeper

JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain does not want the case of Kylian Mbappe leaving for free to repeat itself. This is what prompted PSG to immediately sell goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma after negotiations for a contract extension yielded no results.

PSG will release Donnarumma. Although Donnarumma is still a mainstay when standing under the bar, PSG doesn't want to lose the goalkeeper without getting a penny from the sale.

Because of this, the elite Ligue 1 French club is already frustrated because the negotiations for the new contract have not been completed. Even though negotiations have been opened since last year, there has been no significant progress from both parties. Meanwhile, Donnarumma's contract will expire in June 2026.

If the contract is not renewed, the Italian national team goalkeeper will be free of transfer in December when entering the winter transfer market. Donnarumma is also free to negotiate with any club without involving PSG.

The situation is the same as when PSG lost Mbappe. The new contract negotiations were never completed and PSG finally realized that Mbappe had a free transfer status. Meanwhile, the option to extend the one-year contract from the ettap club was rejected by Mbappe who wanted to move to Real Madrid.

Becoming Madrid gets star players like Mbappe for free. This allows Madrid to give high salaries to the captain of the French national team. Only after no Mbappe, PSG even won the Champions League for the first time.

According to LEquipe, PSG officials don't want the Mbappe case to happen to Donnarumma. Moreover, Les Parisiens can still sell the former AC Milan goalkeeper at a high price.

Coach Luis Enrique is also worried that Donnarumma will abandon him. The reason is that there is goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, who is the first choice under the bar.

It's just that no club has yet given a signal to bring Donnarumma from PSG. However, Inter Milan and Juventus opened up the opportunity to bring the 26-year-old goalkeeper home.

The Serie A clubs appear to be competing with Chelsea who have targeted Donnarumma. The 2025 Club World Cup winner is still showing interest in bringing the goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Manchester United also showed the same interest. Even MU can attract Donnarumma and make it the main goalkeeper. The problem is, MU is absent from European competition so that Donnarumma is not interested in Old Trafford.
