Indonesia's Poverty Data Drops, Dasco Will Ask BPS To Explain Details To The DPR
JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, responded to the latest data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which recorded the number of poor people in Indonesia in March 2025 of 23.85 million people or 8.47 percent. This figure has decreased compared to last year's period.
Dasco said the DPR leadership would ask BPS to explain in detail about the scope of the data, especially which areas are still vulnerable.
"Yes, later we (ask), I have also read it for a while, later we will try to ask BPS to explain more to us and the related commission, so that we can better understand the substance of what was conveyed to the media today," said Dasco at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, July 25.
Dasco is optimistic that Indonesia's poverty rate will continue to decline. Because poverty alleviation is also the goal of President Prabowo Subianto's government.
"Yes, indeed, the goal of a government that has recently been in our aspect is to reduce the poverty rate, and these efforts continue to be carried out by the government at this time," said the daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP.
"And of course the DPR supports that and we will comprehensively review the input from BPS earlier," added Dasco.
