JAKARTA - Some foods that look normal in shops or kitchens are actually prohibited in other countries for health and safety reasons.
Although these products are commonly found in many places, a number of countries have banned them because they are shown to be at risk of causing cancer, heart disease, allergies, and poisoning.
Starting from bright-colored snacks that are full of artificial dyes, chemical foods, to injections, all these ingredients can be dangerous without us realizing it.

1. Instant Noodles with MSG
Many popular instant noodles contain MSG and TBHQ, preservatives associated with nausea, headaches, and even neurological disorders for some people who are sensitive.
Although not yet banned globally, some European countries have implemented strict rules or require special labels, due to concerns about their impact.
2. Roti with Kalium Bromat
Potassium is used to increase the bread dough faster. This material is commonly used in India and the United States. However, several studies have shown that this substance can be carcinogenic or cancer-triggering. Therefore, the UK, Canada, Brazil, and the European Union have banned its use in all bread products.
The use of potassium bromat can be long-term risk for health, said a food expert from Canada.
3. Cultivated Salmon
Cultivated Salmon are often given antibiotics and synthetic dyes so that the meat looks pinker. Several studies have found the high content of PCB and dioxin in this type of salmon. Australia and New Zealand also prefer wild catch salmon which is safer and more nutritious.
4. Kinder Joy & Kinder Surprise
Chocolate Kinder Surprise with toys inside is banned in the United States because it is considered dangerous, but toys in food are considered to causeusumation. Although Kinder Joy is allowed because the packaging is separate, the Classic Kinder Surprise version is still legally prohibited in the US.
