Thailand-Kambodia War, Thaksin-Hun Sen Accuses Each Other Of Attack Orders

Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra accused Cambodian Senate Chair Hun Sen of leading a cross-border attack that killed Thai civilians on Thursday. With this position, Thailand is considered to have a valid basis for carrying out military retaliation.

In an upload on X, Thaksin accused Hun Sen of ordering the bombing Thursday, July 24, in the Thai region after setting an explosive trap along the border, which violates international law and neighboring ethics.

The attack resulted in two Thai soldiers suffering severe injuries to the legs requiring amputation, as well as civilian casualties.

"Thailand has shown patience and self-control, and we have complied with international law and fulfilled our obligations as good neighbors," Thaksin wrote.

"From now on, Thai troops can respond according to tactical plans, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can determine various legitimate actions," he continued.

Thaksin's remarks marked the strongest political response so far to border clashes, resulting in Cambodian troops firing BM-21 rockets into Thai military and civilian positions, prompting evacuation of up to 40,000 residents from 86 villages.

Former Prime Minister Kamboh Hun Sen commented on a Facebook post on Thursday: "The Cambodian army has no choice but to fight back."

He appealed to Cambodians to remain calm and do not need to buy rice to be stored in a panic.
