Restaurants At PIK Burned Due To Gas Leaks, Employees Experience Burns

JAKARTA - A restaurant in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area, precisely on Pantai Indah Selatan Street, Kamal Muara, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta, was hit by a fire on Wednesday afternoon, July 23, 2025. This incident caused an employee to suffer burns.

Head of Operations for North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Gulkarmat, Gatot Sulaeman, said the fire was allegedly triggered by an LPG gas leak during the cooking process in the kitchen of the

"The victim with the initials DK (24), a restaurant employee, suffered burns and has been taken to hospital for medical treatment," Gatot told reporters.

The fire incident had sparked panic among workers and restaurant visitors. Employees had tried to extinguish the fire using a light fire extinguisher (APAR). However, the flames quickly grew, spreading to the ceiling and smoke disposal system in the kitchen.

Seeing the uncontrolled situation, the restaurant immediately reported the incident to the nearest fire station. Shortly thereafter, a team from the North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) arrived at the location.

A total of 20 personnel were deployed with the support of six fire engines. The fire was finally extinguished at around 18.30 WIB.

Until now, the authorities are still investigating further the exact cause of the fire and ensuring the post-event building conditions.
