The Army Chief Of Staff Explains The Reasons For The Military Academy Education Period To Be Shortened To 3 Years

JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak explained the reason why his party shortened the military academy (Akmil) education period from four years to three years because it was to streamline student learning time.

"We have discussed a lot that education is too long," said Maruli after undergoing the Academy graduate admission ceremony at the TNI AD Headquarters field, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, July 23, reported by ANTARA.

Apart from due to time efficiency, Maruli explained that the acceleration of the Akmil education period was carried out in order to meet the needs of many units for personnel to carry out territorial defense and development tasks at several points.

Maruli emphasized that he was not very worried about the accumulation of officers within the TNI AD because the fuel education period was faster and the officer's retirement limit was getting extended.

"The number of the army so far has never been enough, there are still many regions whose organizations only have 60 percent and even 50 percent. So, indeed our needs will be very much," said Maruli.

Although the cut in the time for Military Academy education is considered the right step, Maruli admitted that his party will continue to evaluate this new method for the good of the quality of Indonesian Army HR.

To note, 827 youth officers who have just graduated from Akmil this year are divided into two levels, namely students level 3 and level 4.

For level four students to undergo education for four years while level three students undergo education for three years.
