Investigating Allegations Of Corruption In Google Cloud Procurement, KPK Opportunity To Call Nadiem Makarim

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has the opportunity to summon Nadiem Makarim as the former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) openly in the investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of Google Cloud.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo when asked about the investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of Google Cloud at the Ministry of Education and Culture. He said anyone who knew about the corrupt practice would be questioned.

"Of course, in the process, the KPK will make a request for information to parties suspected of knowing from the construction of the case," Budi told reporters quoted on Wednesday, July 23.

Even so, Budi has not been able to detail the ongoing investigation. This is because this process is usually carried out behind closed doors and will only be submitted to the public when it goes up to the investigation stage.

"This case has not yet been investigated, so we can't convey it in detail. We'll just have to wait," he said.

"... We will tell you what the next update will be," continued Budi.

Previously reported, the Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur confirmed the investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of Google Cloud services at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). This case still has something to do with the procurement of Chromebooks during the Nadiem Makarim era.

"This is still being investigated," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu quoted on Friday, July 18.

Asep has not been able to detail the investigation. "The Charomebook has separated. (But, red) there is Google Cloud and others are part of it," said the KPK Director of Investigation.

The alleged corruption in the procurement of Chromebooks has been handled by the Attorney General's Office. Four suspects have been named, one of whom is Jurist Tan, who is a special staff (stafsus) Nadiem Makarim while serving as Minister of Education and Culture.

Meanwhile, the other three suspects are Mulatsyah as Director of SMP Kemendikbudristek; Sri Wahyuningsih as Director of the Ministry of Education and Culture Elementary School; and Ibrahim Arief who is a consultant at the Ministry of Education and Culture. The suspect's announcement was made on Tuesday, July 15.
