Chairman Of Commission II Of The DPR: It Is Reasonable That The Celebration Of The 80th Anniversary Of The Republic Of Indonesia Will Not Be Held At IKN, The Presidential Decree Has Not Yet Come Out

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission II of the House of Representatives, Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, considers it natural that the celebration of Indonesia's 80th Anniversary on August 17 will not be held in the capital city of the archipelago, and will again be concentrated in DKI Jakarta.

The reason is, although the capital city of Nusantara has been stipulated in the law as the capital city of the country, the Presidential Decree (Keppres) on this matter has not been officially issued.

"One in terms of normative, although Law number 3 of 2022 concerning the Capital City of the Archipelago, it has stated that the Capital City of the Archipelago is our National Capital, but in the law it is also stated that the activation or activation of the IKN as the State Capital must be regulated in a Presidential Decree," said Rifqi at the Paleman Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 23.

"Until now, we are still waiting for the President's decision. So that in a juridically, normatively, Jakarta serves as the State Capital. So it is very natural that the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia still culminates in Jakarta," he continued.

Rifqi also assessed that the budget efficiency imposed by President Prabowo Subianto's government was also the reason for celebrating the Indonesian independence day in Jakarta. Because celebrating at IKN requires a lot of money.

"In accordance with the spirit of Presidential Impress number 1 of 2025 concerning budget efficiency, if we refer to celebrations that have been held there, we will certainly use a large budget. Especially for transportation, for accommodation, because people who will celebrate at IKN are still living in Jakarta, still active in Jakarta," he said.

Therefore, the member of the DPR's NasDem Faction said that his party proposed that President Prabowo issue a Presidential Decree to accelerate the development and transfer of ministries/agencies to IKN. And suggested that Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka be based there.

If you have not been able to determine IKN as the state capital by issuing the Presidential Decree, NasDem assesses that the moratorium needs to be considered.

"Well, that's why my party, the NasDem party, asked for a quick decision by the President so that we immediately decide IKN as the State Capital through the Presidential Decree," concluded Rifqinizamy.
