Bahlil Expressed The Requirements For The Red And White Cooperative To Manage Mining

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed a number of conditions for the Red and White Village Cooperative to be able to manage mines.

Nevertheless, Bahlil revealed that currently the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is still reviewing the possibility of Kopdes being able to manage mines. This follows the ratification of the Draft Law (RUU) regarding the fourth amendment to Law No. 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining which allows cooperatives to participate in managing mines.

"We'll see if it meets the requirements or not. We'll see," said Bahlil, quoted on Wednesday, July 23.

Bahlil said, the main requirement needed to be able to manage the mine is that the cooperative must have the ability and experience in managing mines. Bahlil also prioritized cooperatives near the concession area.

"It is prioritized for cooperatives in mining areas, so that people in the area are given the opportunity to manage resources in their area," explained Bahlil.

The reasons he prioritizes cooperatives around the mining area include so that the local community gets the opportunity to manage resources in their area and not only enrich entrepreneurs.

"So that the local people are given the opportunity to manage their regional sources," explained Bahlil.

Previously, the Minister of Cooperatives, Budi Arie Setiadi, revealed that he only opened cooperation options for cooperatives that would manage mines. Budi said, because to manage mining requires a lot of money, cooperatives have a multi-party cooperative concept that allows cooperation with other parties.

"There can be a multi-party cooperative concept. Cooperatives can cooperate with other parties. It can be private, it can be cooperative, it can be SOE government. There is a cooperative concept working together," Budi told the media crew at the Ministry of Cooperatives Building, Thursday, March 6.

However, until now there has not been a single cooperative that has volunteered to manage the mine. Budi admitted that he was sure that there would be many cooperatives interested in managing mines.

"Not yet. But there have been a lot of people talking. Just wait. I'm sure the enthusiasm is high. This is consolidation again," said Budi.
