When Attacked About His Diploma, Jokowi Responded Without Words and Immediately Bringing His Original Elementary School-Gajah Mada University Diploma to the Surakarta Police Station

SOLO - The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, visited the Surakarta Police Department, Central Java, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, to fulfill a summons for questioning in the alleged fake diploma case involving him.

Jokowi arrived at the location around 10:15 a.m. Western Indonesian Time, accompanied by his legal team. Upon arrival at the main lobby of the police department, Jokowi immediately proceeded to the questioning room with his legal team.

One of Jokowi's attorneys, Firmanto Laksono, stated that they brought original documents, including diplomas from elementary school (SD), junior high school (SMP), high school (SMA), and a bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Forestry from Gadjah Mada University (UGM).

"They will be handed over to investigators, depending on whether they will be confiscated or not. He has consistently followed the legal process and respects the ongoing stages. He was present today as scheduled for questioning at the Surakarta Police Department," Firmanto told reporters.

From the outset, Jokowi has committed to following all legal processes related to the allegations.

"If a diploma is required for legal proceedings with the police or the courts, it will be submitted according to the applicable mechanisms," he said.

Firmato stated that the questioning of several witnesses had been underway since Monday, July 21, 2025.

"On Monday, we learned that the investigation was underway. Eight witnesses were questioned, yesterday around ten, and today nine," he said.

Regarding the emergence of several names suspected of being accused, Firmanto considered this part of the investigation process.

"Initially, you only filed a complaint because you felt you had been slandered and your reputation had been tarnished. At that time, you brought supporting documents," he said.

He added that the evolving investigation had yielded new facts and several names mentioned in the reports. The reports were then combined into a single investigation warrant.

"From that process, five names emerged. We'll just follow the process. Who did what, we'll figure it out later." legally accountable," he said.
