Nails And Posters On Trees Are No Longer Forgiven, Violators Can Get A Fine Of IDR 50 Million And A Confinement
TANGERANG The Tangerang City Government, Banten, imposed strict sanctions for people who destroy trees on the green route and public open spaces. Violators can be fined up to IDR 50 million or imprisonment for a maximum of three months.
Head of the Tangerang City Culture and Tourism Office, Boyke Urif Hermawan, emphasized that actions such as cutting, cutting, breaking, hanging objects, or attaching banners and promotional tools on trees are strictly prohibited.
Pohon is not a place to mix adboards, banners, or other objects. Apart from destroying trees, this action violates the regional regulation and can be subject to sanctions," said Boyke in Tangerang, Antara, Wednesday, July 23.
The regulation is contained in the Tangerang City Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 8 of 2018 concerning Peace, Public Order, and Community Protection, especially Article 25.
Boyke explained that sharp objects such as nails are corrosive and can damage tree tissue. If exposed to tree skin tissue, plant growth can be disrupted and even die.
Not only trees, but the prohibition also applies to plants in green lanes, parks, and other public spaces. This reforestation effort, according to him, is part of the Tangerang City's commitment to creating the lungs of a healthy city.
"We invite the public to play an active role in maintaining beauty and greening for the future of the environment," he said.
The head of the Tangerang City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Irman Pujahendra, added that fines can be accompanied by a maximum imprisonment of three months if violations are proven.
"Satpol PP continues to intensify patrols so that there are no more acts of breaking, hanging objects, or attaching posters on trees," said Irman.
He also encouraged the public to dare to report if they found violations, including if they were committed by their own neighbors.
"Complaints can be made offline to the Community Service Unit at the Tangerang City Satpol PP Office, or online through an official complaint channel," he said.
