Outermost Island, Frontier Hope: Red And White Fishing Village Ready To Be Built In Enggano

BENGKULU - Bengkulu Governor Helmi Hasan stated that the land preparation for the construction of the Red and White Fisherman Village on Enggano Island has been completed. Enggano Island is one of Indonesia's outer islands which is a priority for development.

"The Red and White Fishing Village will be built in Kahyapu Village, Enggano District. This program is an aid from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP)," said Helmi Hasan in Bengkulu, Antara, Wednesday, July 23.

According to Helmi, the land prepared in Kahyapu Village is free from legal or disputed issues. The land also has complete land documents and is ready to be built after the budget from the central government is distributed.

He added that the central government through the KKP had allocated a budget of Rp. 25 billion for the construction of an integrated fishing village on Enggano Island.

"Alhamdulillah, the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries provided assistance to the Fishermen's Village. This is President Prabowo Subianto's priority program," said Helmi.

Helmi also said that the village head of Kahyapu, Alamsyah, had submitted a Land Certificate (SKT) for the construction site for the Fish Auction Place (TPI), which is part of the main facility in the Red and White Fisherman Village.

Apart from TPI, a number of other facilities will also be built to support the lives of coastal communities, including to support the welfare of local fishermen.

Previously, the KKP had allocated a total budget of IDR 75 billion for the construction of three Red and White Fishermen's Villages in Bengkulu Province. Apart from Enggano Island (North Bengkulu), construction will also be carried out in Seluma Regency and Kaur Regency.

"Each fishing village will get a budget of Rp. 25 billion. We will build a Red and White Fishing Village in Enggano, Seluma, and Kaur," said Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono.
