Dukcapil Person Involved In The Baby Trading Network, DPR: No Reason Not To Take Action

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Bahtra Banong, assessed that the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) must investigate the alleged involvement of the Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil) officers. According to him, there is no reason for the Ministry of Home Affairs not to take action against the Dukcapil officers who commit violations.

"Frankly, I haven't heard about it. But if there are individuals, they should be dealt with. There is no reason not to take action, because it is against the law. So everything that is a violation must be prosecuted," said Bahtra Banong at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 22.

Bahtra said that his party would ask the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian in a working meeting to attend the DPR. "Later we will convey it to the Minister of Home Affairs regarding that matter. Because today the meeting is related to the Regency / City Bill. So maybe after that we will convey it," he said.

Previously, the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian would investigate the alleged involvement of the Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil) officers in a syndicate selling babies to Singapore.

Currently, the case is being investigated by the West Java Regional Police. So far, 13 people have been named as suspects, including local Disdukcapil employees.

"I will check what the case will be. This is also the Inspectorate General here, check what the case looks like," Tito said at the DPR RI Building, Wednesday, July 16.

The former National Police Chief explained that the structure of the Dukcapil organization was not completely under the control of the Ministry of Home Affairs. According to Tito, Dukcapil officials at the regional level are directly responsible to their respective regional heads.
