The Government Continues To Use Import Tariffs For Alcohol And Pork From The US
JAKARTA - Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, emphasized that not all products from the United States (US) entered Indonesia.
Of the total 11,552 tariff posts in the Harmonized System (HS), he continued, only 11,474 tariff posts were agreed to get exemption from import duties.
"There are several products that we are now discussing not to be subject to zero percent and they (US) agree," he told the media crew, Friday, July 18.
He said that some products that were excluded from the zero percent tariff were alcoholic beverages and pork when entering Indonesia.
"For example, alcohol. Then what is actually impossible is our import, but we also ask not to zero pork, for example, there is HS. It will not be zero," he said.
He added that since the administration of US President Donald Trump, most US products exported to Indonesia have indeed been subject to low tariffs, even zero percent for many types of goods.
"So far, there is no Trump, no one, most of the US goods to Indonesia have been zero percent. In terms of 39 comma, the 4 zero percent is already zero percent. So the average rate for our tariffs is already low," he said.

Susiwijono juga menekankan bahwa hal serupa berlaku untuk perjanjian dagang dengan negara lain seperti Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) dan Free Trade Agreement (FTA), mayoritas tarif impor dari berbagai kawasan juga sudah berada di level nol persen.
"Tidak hanya dari AS, dari kawasan lain pun memang bea masuk impornya memang sudah nol persen. Kalau dicek ke buku tarifnya Bea Cukai itu memang sebagaian besar sudah nol persen," pungkasnya.

Susiwijono also emphasized that the same applies to trade agreements with other countries such as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), the majority of import rates from various regions are also at zero percent level.
"Not only from the US, but even from other regions, import duties are already zero percent. If you check the Customs and Excise rate book, the amount is already zero percent," he concluded.
