Batam Prosecutor's Office Ready To Face Appeals For The Decision Of The MT Arman 114 Supertanker Ship Seized By The State
The Batam District Attorney (Kejari) has prepared all legal remedies to deal with the appeal decision on the civil case of the supertanker ship MT Arman 114 which is currently being processed at the Riau Islands High Court.
Head of the Intelligence Section of the Batam Kejari, Priandi Firdaus, believes that the memorandum of appeal submitted to the high court can grant a request that strengthens MT Arman 114's criminal decision to be confiscated for the state.
"The position from the start was that we wanted the ship to be confiscated. So we are certainly optimistic that the appeal decision will strengthen us," Priandi said confirmed in Batam, Friday, July 18, which was confiscated by Antara.
He said his party had not received any information regarding the schedule for the Iranian-owned ship's appeal decision which would be read out by the Riau Islands High Court on July 25, 2025.
According to him, in this appeal court, his party as the appeal applicant was only waiting for the appeal decision to be read.
"We have not received any information (reading of the verdict). The appeal applicant is only waiting for the appeal decision," he said.
However, according to him, if the appeal decision actually strengthens the case's civil decision with number 323/Pdt.G/2024/PN Btn which was read out by the Batam District Court judges on Monday (2/6), namely returning the Iranian-owned ship to its owner, then the Batam Kejari prepared maximum legal action.
"Certainly, the Batam Kejari will use all existing legal remedies. Even up to extraordinary legal remedies (casations)," he said again.

Previously, Public Relations of the Riau Islands High Court, Bagus Irawan, said that the decision to appeal the civil case of the supertanker ship MT Arman 114 was decided and read out on July 25, 2025.
It is known that the Batam Kejari filed an appeal on June 4 on the civil decision of MT Arman which was read out by the panel of judges at the Batam District Court, which stated that the ship and crew and its cargo in the form of light crude oil as much as 166.975.36 metric tons were returned to their owners, namely Ocean Mark Shipping Inc.
In the civil decision, the panel of judges at the Batam District Court also stated that MT Arman 114's criminal decision stated that the ship's captain's phrase as a defendant and ship was confiscated for the state had no validity.
This means that the ship must be handed over from the Prosecutor's Office as the state's legal advisor to the ship's owner, Ocean Mark Shipping Inc.
