European Union Holds Investigation Of Platform X, Amid Trade Negotiations With US
JAKARTA - The European Commission has reportedly postponed one of its investigations into Elon Musk's X social media platform regarding alleged violations of digital transparency rules.
The postponement comes as the European Union seeks to resolve trade talks with the United States, the Financial Times reported on Thursday, July 17.
According to the report, citing three officials familiar with the matter, the Commission will pass a deadline to complete the investigation into X, which was originally expected to be completed before their summer recess.
The decision on X is likely to come after clarity in trade talks between the European Union and the US.

Earlier, last year, EU technology regulators stated that X had violated EU's online content rules under the Digital Services Act (DSA).
Any company found to have violated this law could be fined up to 6% of its global turnover, and repeat offenders could even be banned from operating in Europe.
A spokesman for the European Union stated that the legal process against X is still ongoing. "Our law enforcement does not rely on ongoing negotiations," the spokesman said.
