Police Arrest Two Firearm Smugglers To KKB

JAKARTA - The Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force arrested two people suspected of supplying firearms to the Armed Criminal Group (KKB). From the arrests, dozens of rounds of ammunition were confiscated.

"Currently, we are conducting an in-depth investigation of the two perpetrators to uncover the network and the possibility of involvement in the armed criminal group (KKB) that received this supply of ammunition," said Head of Damai Cartenz Police Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, Thursday, July 17.

The two arms suppliers are Yopi Balingga and Oknis Faluk. They were arrested at the Jayapura City Port, this afternoon.

The arrests began when there was information about the smuggling of firearms using ships from Biak Regency to Jayapura.

This information was followed up until they were finally arrested while on the lap of the Sinabung ship.

"From the two perpetrators, 16 rounds of ammunition caliber was confiscated, 7.62 mm," said Faizal.

Meanwhile, Head of the Public Relations Task Force for the Damai Cartenz Ops, Kombes Yusuf Sutejo, hopes that the public will continue to support the authorities by providing information regarding suspicious activities that have the potential to disrupt security in Papua.

"We invite the public to jointly maintain security stability. The involvement of citizens in reporting suspicious activities is very important to prevent crimes of smuggling senpi and ammunition," said Yusuf.
