Ojol Demo At Monas Conducive, Traffic Flow Smoothly

Ahmadi, one of the ojol driver demonstrators representing the Penjaringan extended family, North Jakarta, said that the UrC Mobile 177 mass in the South Silang Monas area, Gambir District, Central Jakarta, which participated in the demonstration amounted to nearly 1,000 ojol drivers.

"The estimate is that around a thousand drivers throughout Jabodetabek. From Bogor and Tangerang are also present. The action plan is until 18.00 WIB today," Ahmadi told VOI in the Monas area, Central Jakarta, Thursday, July 17, 2025.

Demonstrators who refuse to become workers are also worried about special requirements regarding age restrictions and diploma standards.

"It must be limited in age. If you become a worker, there will definitely be requests for diplomas and age restrictions. Not all ojol have diplomas. Some are in high school, junior high and elementary school," he said.

In this action, ojol drivers who took part in the action stated that they were not paid. They purely took part in the action voluntarily with the same goal.

"No one has been paid. The URC moves from the heart," said another ojol driver.

This demonstration took place conducively until 15:18 WIB. The demonstrators took action at the half body of Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta.

From VOI's observation, despite demonstrations, traffic flow in the Monas area was observed to flow smoothly. Police officers guarding the location have not yet closed the road.
