Budget Billions Of Zero Results, Special Committee For DPRP Mountains Highlights Uniba Campus Projects And Futsal Fields Damaged

A number of development projects in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua, were found problematic and did not comply with procedures.

This finding was conveyed by the Special Committee (Pansus) of the Papuan People's Representative Council (DPRP) of the Mountains after making a working visit (kunker) to a number of locations as a follow-up to the BPK RI Examination Result Report (LHP) for Fiscal Year 2024.

The Kunker was led by the Chairman of the Special Committee for the Economy of Busup and Deputy Chair of Kamilus Logo, along with other members of the special committee, accompanied by the Inspectorate.

One of the main findings is the construction project of the University of Balim Papua (Uniba) in the Megapura area. Even though he had received an advance of around Rp. 13 billion, the Special Committee did not find any construction activities at the location.

"We are very disappointed. There are no signs of work. The land is still forest, there are no piles of land or any activities," said my friend at Wamena, Antara, Thursday, July 17.

Furthermore, the contractor is said to have received disbursement of project funds, but has not yet started work. In fact, the request of the Special Committee to see the project contract was not granted by the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) on the grounds that it was considered unclear.

Another finding is in a futsal field on the edge of Kaliwe. The Rp8 billion project is considered not carefully planned. The location is in the middle of the forest, the facilities are damaged, and the construction quality is far from standard.

"There was no spotlight, there was no spectator stands. The fence has also been broken. This is a wasteful project," said my friend.

Not much different, the volleyball field in Napua District with a project value of around Rp. 4 billion also shows damaged conditions. The surface of the field has been peeling, and building materials are allegedly not in accordance with specifications.

The special committee also noted that although the project was carried out by different companies, the name of the implementing contractor turned out to be the same as those working on futsal fields, raising allegations of unprofessional implementation patterns and full of irregularities.

"This is not just an overpayment finding as stated in the BPK LHP, but direct evidence in the field that there is damage and discrepancy in quality. So it must be thoroughly investigated," he said.

He stated that his party would explore all these findings and bring them to a further supervisory process, including legal steps if necessary. He said that what happened was a form of neglect of the responsibility of the public budget.
