Buru Police In A Car Thief Gang In Tanjung Duren
The police are hunting for a gang of car thieves who took action in the Tanjung Duren area, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta. This case became the spotlight after CCTV footage that recorded their actions went viral on social media.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kanit Reskrim) of the Grogol Petamburan Police, AKP Aprino Tamara, said that his party had examined the surveillance camera footage and information from the victim.
"Sudah cek TKP, masih dalam penyelidikan. Kami baru memeriksa korban karena saat kejadian tidak ada saksi lain, hanya CCTV yang merekam," kata Aprino saat dihubungi, Rabu (16/7/2025).
He added that his party had pocketed the visuals of the alleged perpetrator, although the truth could not be confirmed because the quality of the recording was not clear.

"We are still profiling the identity of the perpetrator. His face is similar to the person we suspect, but it cannot be ascertained because the CCTV footage is not clear," he explained.
In the video uploaded to the Instagram account @jakbarviral, two men suspected of theft were seen in action on Tuesday (15/7) at around 04.30 WIB. They entered the parking area without wearing a face covering.
After being stopped because the sensor light turned on, they resumed their action. One of the perpetrators managed to break into the car door, while his partner failed to open the shop door.
After getting the stolen car, one of the perpetrators drove it, while the other forcibly opened the fence before fleeing the location.
