Pertamina Implements Anti-Bribery Management, Observer: There Is A Strong Desire To Avoid Corruption

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) has now implemented an Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP) according to ISO 37001:2016 standards.

Director of the Center for Public Policy Studies (Puskepi), Sofyano Zakaria assessed that the implementation of corporate governance, which is also supported by the SMAP system, could be assessed as an effort by SOEs to avoid corrupt practices.

"By implementing the SMAP, it shows that Pertamina has a strong desire to be clean and avoid and eradicate corruption in its institution," Sofyano told reporters, Wednesday, July 16.

Through these efforts, it is hoped that SOE operations will run efficiently and it is also hoped that they can avoid various corrupt practices.

"With transparent and accountable governance, it can be easily and quickly known if there is a misappropriation," he said.

However, Sofyan assessed that Pertamina also needed to periodically evaluate the system.

According to Sofyano, in addition to being able to create a clean work environment, SMAP can also help law enforcement officers (APH) in handling corruption cases.

In the case currently being handled by the Attorney General's Office, for example, Sofyano believes that Pertamina's implementation of SMAP is sufficient to assist APH in the disclosure of the case. Call it the loss of several articles in the Cooperation Agreement Letter.

"Because the evidence will be very easy to obtain from this transparent system," he continued.

Previously, PT Pertamina (Persero)'s Vice President for Corporate Communication, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, revealed that his party was trying to implement good corporate governance. In 2024, for example, the number of Mandatory Reports of LHKPN Pertamina Group is the largest of all SOEs.

"Even though it is the largest, the level of mandatory reporting compliance at Pertamina has reached 100 percent in the previous year period and is entirely on time," explained Fajar.

Fadjar added that Pertamina's governance improvements were also carried out by strengthening control policies and preventing the practice of bribery by updating the SMAP ISO 37001:2016 Certificate.
