KPK's Internal Discussion Results On RKUHAP: 17 Points Become Notes
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) found at least 17 points of problems in the revision of the Criminal Procedure Code (RKUHP) which is being discussed in the DPR. The study has been conducted internally and the results will be submitted to related parties.
"In the development of internal discussions of the KPK, there are at least 17 points that are noted and we are still discussing this and of course later we will also convey the results to the President and DPR as input related to the Draft Criminal Procedure Law," said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, July 16.
Budi said the points that were highlighted, one of which was related to the speciality or lex specialist in handling corruption which is now being ruled out in the revision policy.
"Later we will convey in detail what kind of details, including the matter of lex specialis, yes, because this corruption is an extraordinary crime, of course, it also requires special legal remedies," he said.
"We will immediately send the input," continued Budi.
The KPK once expressed another objection regarding the RKUHAP. Among them are related to the prohibition of traveling abroad which only applies to suspects.
In fact, based on the KPK Law, witnesses and related parties can also be prevented from going abroad. In addition, the KPK also highlighted points regarding investigation and wiretapping.

The KPK objected to wiretapping because it was only carried out during the investigation and was based on the permit of the local district or high court based on the RKUHAP. This condition is considered to be difficult for the work of eradicating corruption because the investigation stage of the information collection activity has been carried out.
Then, the RKUHAP draft was also protested by the KPK because it reduced the investigator's authority. Because the investigation at the KPK also aims to find two pieces of evidence.
As previously reported, Commission III of the DPR and the government have completed the discussion of the problem inventory list (DIM) for the Revision of the Criminal Procedure Code (RKUHAP). Activities are carried out for two days from 9-10 July.
The discussion was carried out by Commission III of the DPR and the government represented by Deputy Minister of Law (Wamenkum) Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej or Eddy.
There were 1,676 DIM RKUHAP with details of DIM remaining as many as 1,091, DIM editorial as many as 295, 68 DIMs changed, 91 DIMs removed, 131 DIMs of new substance.
