Ministry Of Social Affairs Budgets IDR 48 Million/Year For One Student Of People's Schools
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) said the total budget for one student of the People's School is IDR 48 million per year, which is used to meet various needs to support learning.
"If we detail, more or less for each student, the budget is more than Rp. 48 million per year, which is used to meet the needs of the teaching and learning process at the People's School, so, this People's School is an inclusive school," said Social Minister Agus Jabo Priyono as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 16.
He explained that currently the ongoing People's Schools are the Rantisan People's School which at the end of July 2025 was at 100 points, with the number of students reaching 9,755, as well as the number of teachers, educators, homeroom teachers, and dorm guardians reaching 1,554 people.
As of July 14, 2025, there are 63 points of People's Schools that have implemented the School Environment Recognition Period (MPLS), with various orientational activities carried out ranging from medical tests, classroom recognition, dormitory rooms, laboratories, libraries, to talent mapping or talent mapping students using imitation reasoning technology (AI).
"So, where are these students' talents, then we use AI technology, record the children according to their respective talents, including we also do deepening for academic abilities for children," said Agus.
A total of 37 other People's Schools will start operating around the end of July 2025, so that a total of 100 schools will run. Furthermore, the Ministry of Social Affairs will focus on building a permanent People's School.
"Furthermore, we will continue the President's Order to provide permanent people's schools as well. Currently (which is running) startups schools, later the next is permanent schools, we will build through the proposed land by the district government, city governments, and provincial governments," he explained.

The Deputy Minister of Social Affairs emphasized that in 2026, students who are currently receiving education at the Rantisan People's School will be transferred to a permanent People's School.
"So for the construction of the People's School, the land is the last order of 8.2 hectares (per school), that's the budget provided by the government of around Rp. 200 billion (per school), but it's not only for development, but also for school operational needs for one year," he said.
Agus also stated that the students of the People's School were selected based on the National Sole Social Economy Data (DTSEN), which prioritizes the poor and extreme poor in decile one.
"We departed from there (DTSEN) in recruiting students, who recruited the team? From the Ministry of Social Affairs, then from the local government there is social service, then there is the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), there is a Family Hope Program (PKH) companion, there is a village head, including the results of student recruitment based on data from the background check, this must be signed by the regent or mayor and submitted to the Ministry of Social Affairs," said Agus Jabo.
