Sales Of IPhones Can Be Banned In The US Because Samsung Trade Secrets Are Stolen

JAKARTA iPhone models have the potential to be banned in the US due to a case involving BOE Technology. The LCD and OLED screen panel manufacturers from China are suspected of violating Samsung's trade secrets.

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has issued an initial ruling regarding the case of violations of the US Tariff Law by BOE and its seven subsidiaries. This violation is related to the misuse of OLED technology from Samsung Display.

In the initial decision issued by ITC, citing MacRumors, the agency issued a recommendation for a limited exclusion order. This order can block imports of panels and its artificial OLED modules to the US.

In addition, the ITC also issued a termination order that could stop the sale of inventory or supply of iPhones in the future. This decision will apply to iPhone products that will be released in the future.

There are a number of phones that will be affected by this decision, including the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, and iPhone 16e. The phone model, which is available in the US market, uses an OLED display produced by BOE.

If ITC strengthens its ruling, all iPhone models should not be resold in the US. Apple must use screens from other suppliers to keep the iPhone for sale in the country.

It is not yet known whether the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will use a screen from BOE because currently the company only supplies non-LTPO screens. However, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air are expected to use LTPO technology.

BOE plans to supply LTPO screens for the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max in China. However, reports circulating state that Apple has restricted the BOE model to China for not meeting LTPO performance standards.
