Note! Google Chrome Will Stop Working On MacOS Big Sur

JAKARTA A number of MacBook users will lose access to Google Chrome in the near future. Based on the latest policy, Google has changed the macOS version of the minimum limit that is compatible.

In an announcement released via Chrome Platform Status, Google said it would stop support for macOS 11 or the Big Sur version. With this termination of support, users will not get new features from Chrome.

This policy will come into effect after Chrome 139 was launched. Google also emphasizes that Chrome 138 will be the last version of the app to support macOS Big Sur. This will apply when the latest Chrome version is released on July 30.

"Chrome 138 will be the last release to support macOS 11 (Big Sur). Chrome 139 (or more) will no longer support macOS 11, which is outside of its support period with Apple," Google said, quoted on Wednesday, July 16.

Indirectly, users are forced to update the version of the Chrome application. However, if the MacBook used by users does not receive macOS updates above the Big Sur version, users must look for other browser alternatives.

Although not updated, Chrome 138 is actually still running on macOS Big Sur. However, users will not get any more security updates and this is considered dangerous by Google.

"Running a supported operating system is essential to maintaining security," explains Google. If users force to use unrenewable Chrome, the risk of hacking or entry of other malicious data is very likely.
