Prabowo-Lula Agree To Work On The Great Potential Of The Republic Of Indonesia-Brazil Which Is Not Optimal
JAKARTA - Presiden Prabowo Subianto dan Presiden Brasil Luiz In laycio Lula da Silva berkapat untuk mengerjakan potensi besar kerja sama antara kedua negara yang selama ini belum tergerap maksimal.
The Head of State, upon arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, after a visit to Samba Country and a number of other countries, expressed his commitment to strengthening economic and trade relations between Indonesia and Brazil.
"Brazil and Indonesia are both very large countries, have very large tropical forests, it can be said that the lungs of the world, we also have very large natural sources," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 16.
However, he considered, although the two countries have the same character as a big and resource-rich country, the volume of trade between Indonesia and Brazil is still relatively low.
"It's strange that we talk, President Lula and I say it's strange that our trade relationship is still relatively small, so we want to improve this," he said.
Prabowo also said that Indonesia has now been officially accepted as a member of BRICS, and this participation will be used to strengthen strategic cooperation with other member countries.

As previously reported, the Governments of Indonesia and Brazil agreed to strengthen cross-sector strategic partnerships after a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Brazilian President Luiz Inrypto Lula da Silva in Brasilia last week.
In the defense sector, the two countries are exploring the development of military personnel training as well as defense system technology cooperation, including missile and submarine technology.
From an economic perspective, Indonesia and Brazil encourage a fairer and more balanced international trade system, as well as emphasize the importance of completing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Indonesia and the MERCOSUR block (Indonesia-MERCOSUR CEPA).
For the investment sector, Indonesia encourages the active role of the Danantara BUMN in the development of the livestock sector and the food industry in Brazil.
In the food security sector, the two countries agreed on cooperation in the development of agricultural technology, exchange of information, technical training, joint research, to the implementation of sustainable smart agriculture.
In the issue of energy transition, Indonesia and Brazil are committed to expanding cooperation in the fields of clean and renewable energy, such as solar, hydro, geothermal, and biofuel.
The two countries also emphasized the importance of making their partnership a positive contribution to the world, including UN reforms, strengthening the principles of multilateralism, and enforcing international law.
In addition, both Indonesia and Brazil emphasize the importance of a ceasefire and the creation of sustainable peace for Palestine.
