Swiss Climber Jatub On Rinjani Volunteer Route, Joint SAR Team Deployed
The joint SAR team was deployed to evacuate a climber from Switzerland, Benedikt Emmengger, who was reported to have had an accident while climbing Mount Rinjani on Wednesday morning.
"The team from the Kayangan Post has been dispatched and then followed by additional personnel from the Mataram SAR Office to strengthen evacuation efforts," said Head of the Operations and Alert Section of the Mataram SAR Office Saidar Rahmanjaya in Mataram, Wednesday, July 16.
Emmengger, who started climbing via the Sembalun Line on Tuesday (15/7), fell on the Pelawan Sembalun route to Segara Anak Lake.
This incident report was received by the Mataram SAR office on Wednesday afternoon from the Head of the Gunung Rinjani National Park (BTNGR), Yarman. Responding to this information, the Mataram SAR office immediately dispatched the Kayang SAR Post Rescue Team to the scene.
The SAR team is equipped with various equipment, such asmountaineering equipment, communication, medical, evacuation, operational vehicles, and other supporters.
This rescue operation involved coordination across agencies and various elements, such as the Gunung Rinjani National Park Center (BTNGR), TNI, Polri, BPBD, East Lombok SAR Unit, EMHC, Rinjani Squad, Firefighters, Rinjani Volunteers, porters, guides, and other related elements.
The entire joint team is currently synergizing to reach the location of the victim and provide assistance as soon as possible.
"The joint SAR team continues to work hard to evacuate victims from difficult and steep terrain," he said.
Previously, Benedikt Emmengger (46) reportedly fell while heading to the Segara Anak Lake area after climbing the top of Mount Rinjani on Wednesday morning.
Head of the BTNGR Evacuation Team Gede Mustika confirmed that a Swiss tourist fell on the route to Segara Anak Lake, Mount Rinjani.
"Yes, we received the information at around 11.30 WITA. The possibility of the fall this morning," he said when contacted by telephone from Mataram.
From the information received by BTNGR, this Swiss tourist suffered a broken bone and suffered bleeding in the head.
"The information is that there is a fracture, there is bleeding too. We just don't know if it's in the head or what and this bleeding is because it's scratched or what it's like," explained Mustika.

According to him, currently the victim's position is still on the way to Segara Anak Lake waiting for the evacuation team.
"The evacuation team is now heading for four cases (TKP). There are 8 people, 2 of whom are from the medical team," he said.
From the information he received, this Swiss tourist fell on the path to the lake not on the cliff or cliff.
"So, it fell not on a cliff but on the road to the lake. It looks like he slipped in that lane (to the lake)," said Mustika.
Mustika said the Swiss tourist left for the climb to Rinjani on Tuesday (15/7) with several other tourists through the entrance to the Sembalun Command Post.
"He went up yesterday (Tuesday), then fell this morning," he said.
